It’s easy to make a flying Easter egg chick from a blown-out egg. These instructions show you how to do it.
Easter is all about eggs: and they are also the most popular Easter decoration for Easter bouquets and houseplants. Most Easter eggs are colourful, dyed, glued or painted – but in every egg there is also secretly a chick just waiting to hatch. The idea for making Easter chicks came to me while I was marbling Easter eggs – all you really need is yellow nail varnish. You can find out exactly how to marble Easter eggs with nail polish here.
You can then make cute, flying Easter chicks out of the marbled eggs in about 20 minutes.
There are so many great ideas for designing blown-out eggs (or plastic eggs) that we tried out 3 different techniques this year: Easter egg design with tape, the Decoupage Easter eggs and with nail polish. And there are many more DIY Easter ideas at Greatime.

How to Make an Easter Egg Chick
1. Marbling Easter Eggs With Nail Polish

The body and head of the chick form the egg. For the beautiful yellow marbling I coloured it with yellow nail polish – it’s very quick and looks great. All you basically have to do is drip a little nail polish into water and drag the egg through it and let it dry. However, you can find out in detail here what you should pay attention to when marbling Easter eggs with nail varnish so that you achieve a beautiful result.
Alternatively, you can paint, spray or dye the egg yellow.
2. Making Feet and Beak for the Easter Chick

While the egg is drying, cut off about 50 cm of red wool and soak the thread with craft glue and let it dry as well – best over the heater then it will go quickly. As soon as the thread is dry, it is stiff but still bendable and you can form the two chick feet with three claws and glue them into shape with all-purpose glue or the hot glue gun.
For the beak I glued 4 threads together and cut them to a point on both sides and folded them in the middle: that’s how you get the open beak.
3. Glue Everything to the Easter Egg Chick

The head of the chick is the wider upper side of the egg. I glued the beak to the upper third of the egg first. Close to the beak come the acrylic beads as eyes.
Now I chose three beautiful yellow feathers and glued one as a tail to the back of the egg and two more as wings on the right and left.
Finally, you only need to glue the feet to the bottom of the egg and you can bend them into the desired shape.
4. Make the Hanging for the Easter Egg Chick
I glued a 0.3 mm thin satin ribbon to a piece of toothpick about 0.7 cm long and stuck it into the hole in the top of the egg to hang the chick. Or you can use ready-made hangers that you can buy.
