24 Fall Indoor Activities for Your Autumn Bucket List
1. Get Really Cosy at Home
Rejoice: finally you don’t have any more leisure stress just because it’s good weather and you feel like you should definitely take advantage of it now. Make yourself comfortable and do it properly! Preferably with your family, your partner or even your best friends. Finally cuddle up without sweating, sip hot cocoa with lots of whipped cream or tea (with or without a shot) and simply relax together. This tip is not in first place for nothing, because it can be combined wonderfully with many other fall indoor activities in this list. 🙂
2. Movie Night
If you’re even half as into movies as we are, there’s bound to be a whole bunch of them that you’ve long wanted to see but just never had the time. Because as long as the sun is shining outside and the evenings are warm, other leisure activities will tempt you outdoors. A completely rainy weekend comes in handy: invite your best friends or gather the family and call a movie night or even movie day. Why not have a theme? Let us inspire you: On Greatime, for example, you can find the best films about friendship, a list of entire 64 adventure films as well as ultimate secret tips for horror films.

4. Game Night
With friends, family or both: a board game night with exciting board games is crazy fun, interactive and varied. If you feel like playing something new or are looking for inspiration for a cool game without a lot of accessories, just browse a bit in our game tips.
5. Home Rally
You want the game to be a bit more active and take place all over the house? At a home rally your guests will get to know your home and you from a whole new side, and variety and surprises with exciting tasks and competitions are guaranteed.
6. Play a Role-Playing Game
Slip into a different role all evening, for example at a home mystery dinner, a pen & paper role-playing game or just for fun. If you plan the role play beforehand and your friends or family are enthusiastic about it, you can of course dress up accordingly.
7. Creative Fall Indoor Activities – Making Presents Together
It’s not only parents who enjoy crafted gifts from their children. The nicest gifts I have received from my friends so far have always had something personal. For example, a photo album with shared memories, a bottle decorated by my friends, a framed picture with photos and a film my friends made themselves. Whether for the next upcoming birthday of a friend or family member or already at Christmas: making a surprise together for someone is one of the most entertaining fall indoor activities and at the same time it gives someone great pleasure.
8. Folding Origami
Origami – the Japanese art of paper folding, is not only wonderfully calming and helps relieve stress. When you fold origami together, you also have a wonderful opportunity to talk about God and the world. And at the same time, you make beautiful things with which you can decorate your home and gifts.
9. Carving Pumpkins
A list of fall indoor activities wouldn’t be complete without carving a pumpkin. We Germans already love Halloween almost as much as the Americans. Windows lit up with grinning pumpkin faces with a candle inside simply brighten up autumn! In English, these pumpkin faces are called Jack O’Lantern after an Irish legend in which a blacksmith of the same name lost a bet with the devil..
10. Celebrate Halloween!
Even if you haven’t made the Halloween decorations yourself, you should definitely not miss out on celebrating Halloween. Whether in a small circle with scary snacks and good horror films, or at a big party in the costume of your choice – Halloween is the highlight of the year for every scary fan..
11. Listening to Music Together
As a teenager, I could spend half nights with some of my mates listening through album after album, raving and talking shop. Add a good bottle of wine or whatever perfects your enjoyment and happiness is perfect. Especially when it’s storming and raining outside and you’re sitting comfortably inside. 🙂
12. Fondue, Raclette or Stew – Cooking Together in Autumn
Cooking together with fresh autumn fruits like pumpkin, apples and potatoes is one of the best leisure activities for the stomach! When the autumn weather is cold and wet, you long for cosiness and a good warm meal. And what could be more convivial than preparing a big pot of good soup, a tray of oven vegetables or one of our wild mushroom recipes together and eating it afterwards? Fondue or raclette are also ideal for a larger group, where the preparation of the food is always a real communal experience.
13. Doing ‘’Sports’’ Together in the Living Room During Wii Evening
Just because it’s pouring is no excuse not to do sport! What’s the point of modern technology like the Wii if we can’t play golf, tennis, baseball, archery or boxing in the comfort of our own living room? And of course, non-sporty Wii games are also an entertaining leisure activity.
14. Wellness, Bathing and Sauna
Exchange the grey autumn soup for warmth, well-being and pure relaxation! Go to the thermal bath or the sauna! This will also strengthen your immune system and prevent colds. In special adventure pools such as the Tropical Island near Berlin, you and your friends / family can enjoy a whole day in bikini and swimming trunks – no matter how cold and wet it is outside!
15. Visit the Indoor Flea Market
The flea market season is over, right? Actually, a great flea market season with a special atmosphere is just beginning! In many cities in Germany, indoor flea markets open, offering at least as varied a range as flea markets in summer. In addition, there is often good live music, delicious food and workshops. Those who are already eagerly awaiting the opening of the first Christmas market will find this the perfect autumn alternative.
16. Sports Watching Like in the USA
At last, the egg is flying again and a new season begins for the NFL! In autumn, the American Football League and the NBA – the basketball season – start in the USA. What the Bundesliga and Champions League are for most Germans, these sporting events are for the Americans – and they are a lot of fun to watch. Most of all at public viewing with a cool Foster in an American bar and a gigantic burger!
17. Going Bowling
Who manages the most strikes and becomes the bowling king? Team spirit, competition and skill are the ingredients for this classic leisure activity with friends. Swing the ball like the Dude or Homer Simpson and bowl your way to happiness.
18. Visit a Museum or Exhibition
Do you know all the museums in your hometown? And when was the last time you went to an art exhibition or an opening? Explore the treasures of the museums together with family or friends and expand your knowledge. Take the opportunity to try out our Museum Challenge!
19. Go to the Cinema, Theatre, Opera or a Musical
The performing arts also have something for everyone: whether you’re into blockbuster cinema, political cabaret, classical ballet or hip avant-garde performance art. Find out about the local cultural programme on the internet or in a city magazine and choose what appeals to you. Afterwards you can discuss the sense and nonsense of it all over a beer ;-).
20. Learn Something New Together
Who wants to cram vocabulary in good weather? That’s right: nobody! That’s exactly why autumn is the ideal time of year to start learning a new language, and the best way to do that is with like-minded people. Attend a course together and get together to practise. It’s much more fun together. And if languages aren’t your thing, how about a tango class, a sushi cooking class, hatha yoga or shamanic drumming?.
21. Puzzle Together
Puzzling takes a lot of time and patience, making it one of the perfect autumn activities for a rainy Sunday afternoon. If you like challenges, have patience or are obessive puzzlers, why not try one of the following wacky puzzles together:

22. Fun with Kids – Visit Indoor Playground
Perfect for families with children! Especially for kids who are always on the move and can’t be active enough for autumn activities. In most cities there are great indoor playgrounds with climbing frames, slides, trampolines and bouncy castles where kids can really let off steam! Another plus for parents: this way, even in bad weather, the living room furnishings remain intact… 😉
23. Write Your Own Story
You like to make up stories and so does one of your friends, your partner or someone else? Pool your imagination and write a story together. You’ll see: when you’re on the same wavelength, creativity just flows like a rushing mountain stream.
24. Record Your Own Radio Play
When I was a kid, my then best friend and I actually used to record ourselves all the time with the good old cassette recorder and play through the craziest stories. Self-invented adventures as King Arthur and Merlin were still among the more normal recordings.
The fact is: being creative is fun for a lifetime. Think up a story together, write a radio play or simply improvise and record yourselves. Every smartphone is suitable for recording and audio editing programmes are available free of charge on the internet!
