Creating a pyramid gift box out of motif cardboard is easy

How to Make a Pyramid Gift Box From Cardboard | Tutorial

How To Make A Pyramid Gift Box From Cardboard TutorialRaffinely packaged, quickly made. This is how to make a pyramid gift box from cardboard.

Ramses gives it, Nefertiti is happy. In ancient Egypt, pyramids, the mysterious tombs of the pharaohs, were very popular. Mine too at the moment – only in miniature!

To wrap several gifts, I made four pyramid gift boxes. Without gluing, just fold and tie. Would you like to make several gift boxes? I recommend making a template that you only have to cut around. This way, measuring and making the template takes a few extra minutes, but you can make one pyramid gift box at a time in just 10 minutes.

I gave jewellery in the gift boxes and covered the bottom of the pyramid with felt, so to speak sparkling jewellery in a royal package.

You can also make larger boxes out of A4 cardboard! Here you can find my instructions for a rectangular gift box with a template to copy, a round gift box made from a Pringels tin, a last-minute packaging made from the cardboard part in a loo roll and many more crafting ideas!

How to Make a Pyramid Gift Box Without Gluing

Chocolates, jewellery, small presents – this gift box is perfect for them. If you use double-sided printed motif cardboard like I do, then a square format of the paper sheets is ideal. At amazon* and in craft shops you can find inexpensive pads with motif sheets in the format 30 x 30 cm, that’s my recommendation.

Material List*

1. Measure Out Basic Shape and Fold

To make several pyramid gift boxes, it is recommended to use a template
If you plan to make several gift boxes, make a template first

Draw a 10 x 10 cm square in the exact centre of the motif box with the triangle. Mark the middle of each side and draw a straight line 10 cm long at right angles. Connect the corners of the square with the end of the straight line to make four points. Now draw a half arch from the corners to the tip, which is about 1 -1.5 cm wide at the widest point.

Cut out, fold, tie - this parymid gift box is not glued
To fold the prongs sharply, you can run your fingernail along them

Cut out the outline and crimp all the drawn lines sharply.

2. Punch the Points and Make the Pyramid Gift Box

To make the pyramid gift box without gluing, punch each prong once or twice
Punch one or two holes in each prong

Punch small holes in the centre of each prong with the hole punch. Alternatively, you can use a hole punch (but then you’ll need thicker tape to cover the holes).

Finish making the pyramid gift box and thread a ribbon through the holes to tie it shut
Thread a narrow fabric ribbon through the holes and tie the box shut with a bow

Variation a) Punch two small holes one below the other in 3 of the 4 prongs – punch a hole in the 4. Thread the ribbon from the inside through one hole to the outside and back to the inside. Feed the two ends of the ribbon out through the hole on its own and carefully pull it taut until you close the pyramid box with a bow.

Variation b) Punch a hole in the centre of each prong. Thread the ribbon through all the holes – it goes over the outside of the corners and you knot the ribbons over one of the corners and tie a bow.
